Luke was appointed as the Senior Minister at TCC in 2009. In addition to his preaching & teaching ministry and pastoral care responsibilities, he has oversight of the staff team and the general day-to-day affairs of the church. He also leads the church council and seeks to train the next generation of gospel workers. He joined the staff at TCC as an Assistant Minister in 2002 after completing post-graduate studies in London, England. Prior to that, he served for seven years at another Southern Suburbs church.
In December 1996, he married Niki (a Chartered Accountant working as a Director of an asset management firm) and together they have two boys, Joshua (born 2005) and James (born 2007). In his free time, he enjoys reading a good murder mystery, catching fish and watching sport.
Graham has been serving as Assistant Minister since 2015. He is responsible for the evening service and oversees Children and Youth Ministry. Prior to coming to TCC, he was the Rector at Christ Church Glenwood in KZK. He holds a BTh Licentiate in Theology from George Whitfield College.
Graham has past experience as a retail business manager and restaurant manager and was involved in international missions with Operation Mobilisation. He is married to Nina and has two young children: Emily and Nathan. He enjoys reading, playing golf & watching sports.
Denzil joined the pastoral team in April 2017 an Assistant Minister with oversight of our Church’s Pastoral Ministry and Partnerships.
He graduated from George Whitefield College in 2005 with a BTh Licentiate in Theology, and was ordained as a Presbyter in 2006. Before joining TCC, he served on the Pastoral Team at St James’ Church Kenilworth with specific involvement in the Men’s Work, Senior Bible Study, and Co-Mission Partnerships with churches on the Cape Flats.
Denzil is married to Debbie and they have two adult children Clint (married to Portia) and daughter Linzi (married to Lee). They are also the proud grandparents of #PasBoy aka Ross Alexander Abrahams (son of Clint and Portia). Denzil enjoys running marathons and ultra marathons as well as a weekly round of golf to cope with the real stresses of ministry.
Kim joined our team in January 2016 as Curate/Youth Worker. He heads up all youth ministry programs. He holds a Bachelors in Theology (BTh) through George Whitfield College. He previously served at Heideveld Presbyterian Church as a full-time ministry worker, St Andrews Church, Pinelands as Youth and Children’s Worker and ran the children and youth ministries at St Lukes Church in Mitchells Plain for his student placement which sparked his love for ministry in the Cape Flats.
Before being called to full-time ministry, Kim worked as a Financial Adviser as well as a Fitness Consultant. He is married to Julia and has two young daughters. He’s an avid supporter of Liverpool FC and the Blue Bulls and is passionate about food, especially throwing a chop on the Braai or making a Potjie.
Brenda joined the staff team at TCC in March 2018 as the Senior Children’s Worker, focussing on the Sunday children’s ministry (Kids’ Church) that takes place during the 10am service. She also is currently working part-time for TnT Ministries, a UK based charity that writes and publishes online Bible lessons for churches to use in their children’s ministries, and is involved in teaching some modules for the children’s ministry course at GWC. Since 2004, Brenda worked as the full-time Children’s Minister at All Souls Church, Langham Place in London. Before that, she ran the children’s ministry at St Paul’s Church, Stellenbosch for 4 years, with some involvement in the youth and student ministries.
Brenda grew up in Durban in a church-going Christian family. After matric she moved to Cape Town where she spent 2 years studying at the Bible Institute in Kalk Bay, followed by 3 years at George Whitefield College, graduating in 1999. Her immediate family have all left South Africa. One brother lives in Holland with his wife and 3 children. Her parents and younger brother, with his wife and 2 children, moved to Saint Helena Island (in the South Atlantic Ocean) in 2009. Brenda loves playing tennis and watching soccer—she is a Chelsea supporter. Her favourite things to do are snorkelling and walking her adorable pug named Pearl (not at the same time!)
Jeanne has been on staff as the Church Administrator since 2008. She has a keen interest in missions, and as a volunteer, coordinates the Missions programme, liaising between the church and the various missionaries & mission partners.
Before joining TCC staff she spent many years in the teaching profession and tutored autistic children. She is married to Mark and together they have 3 young adult sons Scott, Paul, and Luke. In her free time, she likes to read, knit and enjoys music with some dark chocolate thrown in.
Susan is the liaison between TCC and both the Westlake United Church Trust and Westlake Primary School. Her responsibilities include overseeing the Westlake Girls Bible Club, two Bible Clubs at Westlake Primary School, TCC’s involvement in the Westlake Feeding Scheme, and the Westlake Women’s Ministry that includes weekly Bible studies and monthly teas. She will be exploring other opportunities for outreach such as starting a Sunday School in the community and running an evangelism outreach program for adults.
Susan is a missionary with Mission to the World. Susan has been a missionary in South Africa since March 2008, first serving as the Children’s Ministry Coordinator at another Southern Suburbs church until 2011 before coming to TCC.
Susan has a yellow lab named Kiko that she likes to take for walks on the beach. She also enjoys traveling, reading, shopping and watching good movies.
Olivia is serving as an apprentice at TCC in 2017-2018. Her main focus is serving in music ministry, but she is also involved in various children and youth ministry programmes.
Olivia is also finishing her third and final year of a Performance Diploma, specializing in flute, at UCT this year. When she is finished she hopes to spend her life teaching music and being actively involved in church music ministry. She enjoys cooking and is always keen to travel somewhere.
Stephen is serving as an apprentice at TCC in 2017-2018, primarily focussed on children’s ministry but he is also involved in some of the youth programmes. His service will also include helping out with IT and the website.
Stephen is currently finishing off a BComm in Computer Science and Statistics degree at UCT with the goal of pursuing a career in that industry in 2019. He enjoys reading all kinds of books, spends his free time designing websites and is always looking forward to his next opportunity to go birding and practice his wildlife photography.
Nathan is serving as an apprentice in 2018, with a primary focus on children’s and youth ministry. He will also be helping out with IT.
Nathan finished school last year and is taking a gap year apprenticeship before he goes to Bible college. He enjoys reading, running, and fixing computers. In his free time, he builds websites and drinks hot chocolate.
Duncan is currently involved in as an apprentice doing children’s ministry at TCC for a year. Last year he did the gap year programme at the Bible Institute of South Africa and before that he had done two years doing ministry at a church in the UK.
During his time in the UK, Duncan worked as a maintenance manager for a year with a wedding company, and the following year worked on a farm as a farm manager. He grew up in a small town called Nottingham Road in Kwa-Zulu Natal. Duncan loves his sports (with favourite being rugby), he was provincial champ for Judo under 12s and boxed professionally for Witham in the UK as well as professional wrestling in Birmingham, and last year did some mixed martial arts.
Ashley is serving as an apprentice at TCC in 2018. Her main focus is helping out in various children ministry programs but is also involved in the youth ministry. Ashley has been involved at TCC for the past 4 years helping out with Xplode and being a part of youth.
Ashley is currently taking a gap year. She matriculated in 2017 and in 2019 she wishes to study a Bachelors in Theology at GWC as she wants to continue to go into children and youth ministry. In her free time, she enjoys doing art and continues to dance since the age of 3.
