Talking to your children about the coronavirus

Watch Jo Taylor (children’s worker at St Stephen’s Bible Church in Claremont) share a few helpful thoughts on this.

You might well be overwhelmed by all the useful resources various Christian organisations and churches are coming up with. I have seen many! This particular collection from Focus on the Family (Canada) seems to be varied and helpful.

Daily Bible Reading for Children

There is a brilliant series of 3 devotional books for children by David Murray.  The first is “Exploring the Bible” and is available from Christian Book Discounters. The follow up volume, “Meeting with Jesus” has been helpfully reviewed by Tim Challies here with some previews.

Kids songs

This song has rich yet simple words that teach us a Biblical Theology of the presence of God, that is very fitting to the book of Hebrews!

James 1:22 is our memory verse for the year at TCC linking to our Vision 2020.

YouTube Playlist

These are some of the songs we sing with the children in Kids Church or Club.

Do Not Be Anxious (Philippians 4:6&7)

It is so much easier to learn memory verses when put to music. Seeds Family Worship have produced lots of songs like this. Let’s put this one to memory!

Jesus Strong and Kind

If you’re on instagram, click here to hear Colin Buchanan introduce the song.

The Lord is King

Listen to Colin Buchanan, a much loved Australian children’s singer, share a Bible thought and song from his house to yours.

Activity Sheets

For each TCC@home online service there is an Activity Sheet to accompany the sermon – one for younger children and one for older children. You can find them under the link to the service and print them out, ready for your child/ren to use during the sermon.

Kids Church Collection

Every Sunday in Kids Church (before lockdown) we would take collection that went towards supporting one of our mission partners serving in Asia (your child/ren should be able to tell you who that is!) As we have not been meeting together or doing this, would you encourage your child/ren to set aside money each week perhaps in a specific jar, that they can bring when we all meet in person again. There are 2 helpful reasons for this:

-to continue supporting this mission partner in their work
-to keep your child/ren in the healthy habit of giving of their own money towards God’s work in the world
